Budgets ask for upkeep, so they stop
A budget should answer a question, not add a chore to your week.
Every budget starts with a weekend of setup
Categories, limits, a spreadsheet or an app. Three weeks in, something didn’t get entered, and the whole thing stops being true.
Savings is whatever happens to be left
Bills and groceries are real amounts. Saving is a hope at the end of the month, and it’s the first thing that gives.
You can’t tell whether last month went well
The bank balance went up or down. Whether that was a good month, or just a quiet one, is a different question.
HOW IT WORKS
The budget is already in what you entered
Income, bills and goals go in once. Budget reads them and does the arithmetic.
Enter income, bills and goals once
The same things that give you your Safe-to-Spend™ number. Budget uses them as they are.
Open Budget
The donut shows where the month’s money goes: bills, savings, subscriptions and everyday spending. Tap a slice to see what’s in it.
Take one small step
Budget suggests one change, like $25 more per payday to a goal, and shows what the month looks like after. Save more this month, or Not now.
WHERE OCT’S MONEY GOES
One month, four parts
Income coming in is the whole. Bills and savings come first, subscriptions are counted on their own, and everyday spending is what’s left for groceries, fuel and fun. Safe-to-Spend™ stays the one number for right now; this is the shape of the month.
- Bills$3,05746%
- Savings$4006%
- Subscriptions$731%
- Everyday spending$3,07047%
One household’s October. The arithmetic works the same for yours.
Step Back a Month and the Story Is There
The arrows at the top of Budget move month by month, back to the first month your household entered. Each one shows where that month’s money went and what moved to goals, so a good month and a quiet month stop looking the same.
Savings, Month by Month
Money you moved to goals on payday, one bar per month, with your best month marked and the current month shown so far. A line under the donut says what savings are as a share of income this month, and whether that is up from last month.
Bills by Group
Housing, Transport, Kids & family, Insurance, Utilities, Phone & internet: your bills sorted into groups, each with its monthly total. Tap a group to see what’s in it. When you add a bill, the group is suggested from its name, so Electric lands in Utilities before you’ve finished typing.
Add Money to a Goal Any Time
Every goal has an Add money button, so a tax refund or a quiet week can go straight to the Emergency fund without waiting for payday. Moved so far updates on the spot, and the month’s savings bar grows with it.
If the month’s plan is more than the income coming in, Budget says so in one sentence and adds up the flexible bills, so you can see what has room.
