Set up your household

After you sign up, Amppfy walks you through setup step by step. Most people finish in about ten minutes, and you can change anything later.

Step 1 — Name your household and invite your partner

Section titled “Step 1 — Name your household and invite your partner”

Give your household a name — it can be anything (“The Rivera house”, “Sam & Alex”). It appears across the app and in your emails, so everything feels like yours.

If you share money with someone, enter their email and choose Send invite & continue — they’ll get an email with their own sign-up link. This is optional; you can invite a partner anytime, or skip it entirely. Everything works the same with one login.

Add each place your money lives: checking, savings, cash. For each account you choose whether it counts toward Safe to Spend — your everyday checking usually does; a vacation fund you don’t want touched usually doesn’t.

You type in the current balance yourself. About 30 seconds per account, and you’ll refresh these at the weekly check-in.

Add each paycheck in the household with its amount, schedule, and which account it lands in. Amppfy supports weekly, biweekly, twice-monthly, and monthly schedules — details in Paydays and income schedules.

The most common bills are pre-listed — rent or mortgage, electric, gas, water, trash, phone, internet, streaming, and more. Fill in amounts and due dates for the ones you have and skip the rest. Have a credit card payment? Use + Add another credit card to add each one’s minimum payment as a bill, so it’s counted before your number appears.

Add any savings goals — an emergency fund, a trip — with a target and a monthly amount. Goals set their money aside first, like bills. See Goals.

Then choose your safety cushion: money your number never touches, so an ordinary surprise stays ordinary. $250 and $500 are common choices; pick whatever lets you sleep well.

That’s the whole setup. Your dashboard opens with your Safe to Spend number and the math printed right under it — here’s how to read it.
