How the number is calculated
Safe to Spend is four lines of arithmetic. Every screen that shows the number can also show you these lines, so you can always check the math yourself.
| Line | What it is |
|---|---|
| Available cash | The balances of every account you marked as counting toward Safe to Spend |
| − Bills before payday | Only the bills due before your next paycheck — later bills don’t count yet |
| − Planned savings | The monthly amounts your goals set aside first |
| − Safety cushion | Money the number never touches, so a surprise stays ordinary |
| = Safe to Spend | What’s genuinely spendable between now and payday |

Why only bills before payday?
Section titled “Why only bills before payday?”Rent due on the 1st shouldn’t scare you on the 13th. Amppfy separates what’s due before your next paycheck from what comes after, so the number reflects the week you’re actually in. When payday passes, the next set of bills rolls into the calculation automatically.
The lowest point on the road
Section titled “The lowest point on the road”The dashboard’s payday ledger lines up every bill between now and payday and shows your balance after each one lands — including the lowest point your cash will touch. If that low point ever dips under zero, you’ll see it days ahead, with time to move a due date or pause a goal.

When it updates
Section titled “When it updates”The number is recalculated everywhere the moment you change something — add a bill, update a balance, pause a goal — and refreshed again every morning.
